LFW SS14 (Day1)

Evening guys,

How is everyone doing? I hope everyone has had a lovely week, and a lovely weekend. Despite the weather taking a turn for the worse, LONDON FASHION WEEK HAS ARRIVED!!!!! Yep shouting that was totally needed ;) I absolutely love LFW, it makes me incredibly proud to be British because the fashion and talent we are developing is just amazing. I feel our fashion week is truly celebrated, we know how to take it from runway to the high street. 3/4 of shows shown at LFW have either got collaborations in department stores such as Debenhams, John Lewis, House of Fraser, or have been picked up by high street stores such as Topshop, River Island (This season Korean designer Eudon Choi releases his collection for River Island). Not only do we see these amazing designer bring their talents to the high street, we also have Topshop actively supporting new designers via the NEW GEN COLLECTIVE, and lets not forget the amazing talents that lie in FASHION EAST. To me, the newest trends, the risk takers are breading from London! Let's face it, LFW rocks!

So here is my round up of Day 1 of LFW. My favourite designers and looks!

Jena. Theo

All i have to say is can i please have the skeleton jumpsuit and dress please?! A fresh punk and girly vibe for SS13.

Bora Aksu

Celebrating 10 years showing at LFW, Bora marked the occasion by dedicating his collection to his Turkish roots. The collection was heavy with crochet trims, lace work, cute collars, sheer panelling and a mixture of soft pastels and deep pinks. The collection is the first time Bora has delivered a more "commercial" collection, but still maintains his quirky side and his roots. Bravo Bora.

Fyodor Golan

2 Years on since the duo won the Covent Garden Fashion Fringe, and the duo are striding into LFW. From past collections the pair have always been known for the dramatics. The collection was a mix of sports luxe and beautiful gowns, with rich yellows, nude, blues, multicolour feathers, extreme pleating (please can i have the pleated mini dress?!), peplums and of course some more sheer panelling!

Otswald Helgason

Another duo who I am a huge fan of. These guys are really exploding, and their profile is just rising each season. With My Wardrobe becoming main stockists of the designers its easy to see why these the Duo are being high praised. Quite rightly so, known for their sporty silhouettes  and bold prints, this season captures their happiness and propels their love for bright prints and shows of a more feminine silhouette with the cutest shorts, maxi skirts and beautifully tailored trousers all of course mixing prints.

Felder Felder

*SWOOOON* I can't even describe how this collection makes me feel, that's how much i love it. An under water theme, the collection was embedded with deep aquatic blues, metallics, nudes, reptile prints, satin sky high heels, flowing halter neck dresses and a lot of sheer panelling. I think what really captured the collection for me was twisting the peplum upside down creating the paper bag effect. The use of PVC was genius. I love when a collection really mixes textures.

J JS Lee

Jackie Lee doesn't see her self as a minimalist she calls her self a "cleanist" (as said after her show) and it's all down to the fact under the simplicity there are layers. SS13 collection mixes masculine and feminine styling and a overall inspiration from Jelly fish (as you can see from the colour pallet, the pinks, blues and navy) I personally loved the PVC gingham pieces, and the use of PVC in all of the outfits.

Ones to Watch

Hannah Williams

Helen Lawrence

Renli Su

Daks

Oh Daks, i love you. I really really love you. This whole collection was just perfection, with ample use of the Daks check and embodying romance. The collection was as promised, romantic, sophisticated and metropolitan, with a french soundtrack. I have to say i felt a French Riviera vibe whilst watching. My heart melted when the show opened with the leather trench coat in that beautiful brown leather AND those chiffon capes....wow!

Eudon Choi

Ahhh man of the moment, Mr Choi. With a River Island collaboration due out on Monday, there was a lot of buzz around this collection. Known for his more masculine silhouettes, Choi left masculinity in AW, and turned to a much more feminine SS14. His collection was inspired by Princess Deokhye, the last princess of the Korean Josen Dynasty who was exiled to Japan. A truly sad story and his prints capture her emotions. The collection had mixed reviews, but for me, the cuts, the print, the jackets and the asymmetric dresses really captured a story.

PPQ

So, where to start with PPQ, always the last to show on the opening day of LFW and always the celeb pleasers. PPQ this season has put me in the weirdest place. The collection really seemed messy, where there were some incredibly beautiful pieces there was also some questionable ones. Those questionable ones really read "high school prom TK MAXX style" harsh but true. It really didn't mesh well, which is a shame as PPQ is a favourite of mine...here are a few of my favourite, the theme was seduction and inspired by the intoxicating plant 'Deadly Nightshade'.

Todd Lynn

Straight silhouettes, flowing silk gowns, a mixture of silks and striped linens. Todd Lynn offering this season was less "Fierce" than previous season yet still captured a rock'n'roll vibe to his collection. With a colour pallet of khakis, cream and blacks, this was a very laid back collection with some extremely awesome leather quilted biker jackets.

Yeashin

Such a beautiful collection. It was like an ode to Disney princess, but much more modern and higher hem lines. Not only can you see a Disney theme (definitely down to the colour pallet ans use of leaves on sleeves!) i also felt like there was influence from early Miu Miu who perfected the art of silk  dresses in pastels with beautifully placed embroidery, lace and bows.

So, what was your favourite show from day 1?

Thanks for reading guys

lots of love

Nadia
